Inaugural post!

What better way to kick off the Nintentunes blog than with a song from my favorite game of all time! Illusion of Gaia is a terribly underappreciated game for the SNES published by Enix and developed by Quintet.

One of the reasons why I love this game so much is because of the character development and the way the developer pulls you in to the world through the use of real world (mostly) locations. The RPG elements of the game don't seem forced and it is a real challenge to collect and see everything in the game.
Illusion of Gaia is part of a trilogy of games, with only two of the titles ever reaching North American shores. Although Soul Blazer and Terranigma don't completely follow along the same plot, there are a few common themes between the titles, and there is even a reference in Terranigma that calls the game Illusion of Gaia 2!

  1. This is one of the best SNES rpgs, definitely underrated. Too bade Terranigma never came out over here...
