Is this the best Mario game ever created?

Talk about third world problems. I remember as a kid, right about the time when I owned a dozen or so NES games, I saw a commercial for Super Mario World and decided that what I had wasn't good enough. All I could think about was how I wanted the newest, hottest thing, and how my system didn't look as great as the SNES did. It took a year to finally get my system second hand from a garage sale, but I finally acquired one, and it was awesome.

One of finest achievements on SNES was also one of the first games on the console, Super Mario World. The game took everything that Super Mario 3 did right, and improved upon it. The only thing wrong with the game was that it didn't have more levels. Not that it's a short game by any means, It was just so good I wanted more of it! The first time you jumped on Yoshi and the theme music changed slightly was fantastic. The first time you acquire a feather and take to the skies is simply magical.

It's been a long time since I have played a game that has hit all the notes that Super Mario World did. It may just be nostalgia talking, but there aren't many games that have the gameplay addictiveness and creative level design like this one. I love me some New Super Mario Bros Wii and DS, but unfortunately they have nothing on Super Mario World. Give me Yoshi, a fire flower, and a cape any day of the week.
