There was once a time when all a game needed to be successful was a catchy name, and Fabio on the front cover. Ok, so it wasn't until Wizards & Warriors II until Fabio was introduced, but still. FABIO! Developed by Rare and published by Acclaim, the game is an action platformer in which the player takes control of Kuros the knight.

Life Force is actually an NES port of arcade game Salamander, which is a spin off to Gradius. A side-scrolling shooter with power ups, Life Force was my first look at what is known as the bullet-hell shooter genre. Playable in 2-player, the game is one heck of a time with a friend.

There's no denying that video games of the late 80s and early 90s on the whole were much more difficult than they are today. It may just be because I was young at the time, or maybe I'm just bad at games, but there are titles in my NES library that I STILL haven't beaten. Not because I haven't had time to beat them, but because I can't beat them. They are just too hard....too hard without a Game Genie. Ninja Gaiden is one of those games.

So I've been slacking. Really, I haven't posted in almost two weeks! Come on! I owe you all better than that. Well, It's spring break now, and I have vowed to myself that this week I will post at least once a day. Deal? What better way to kick it off than one of the best games on the SNES, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past? You game? Then join me after the break!

One of the last game I ever played on my NES was Gargoyle's Quest II after acquiring it from a local pawn shop. While the game doesn't do anything remarkably groundbreaking, on the surface it is a basic get from point A to point B platformer, it does contain fun RPG elements that will keep you coming back for more.
