Yeah, guess who hasn't posted in a long, long, time. This guy!
So I've been slacking. Really, I haven't posted in almost two weeks! Come on! I owe you all better than that. Well, It's spring break now, and I have vowed to myself that this week I will post at least once a day. Deal? What better way to kick it off than one of the best games on the SNES, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past? You game? Then join me after the break!
I have a hard time picking my favorite Zelda game of all time. In the moment, it's basically whatever Zelda I'm playing at the time. While not my absolute favorite, after playing Skyward Sword this winter I can safely put it in my top 3 Zelda titles, easily. After that, only two games remain: Majora's Mask (which I will get to in a later post), and A Link to the Past. There is no question that A Link to the Past is my favorite top-down Zelda adventure, because while I love all of the games, nothing comes close to what Nintendo achieved in LTTP. Beautiful environments, world class puzzles, fantastic soundtrack, you name it, LTTP had it.
I can't tell you how many times I have played and completed the game, it's just that good. Every year I make sure to replay two game to completion at least once: Illusion of Gaia, and A Link to the Past. How many of you out there can beat all three Light World dungeons in under an hour? This guy, with the thumbs, can. Have I played the game way too many times that I know that you need exactly 110 rupees to enter the Palace of Darkness because the pesky monkey is a jerk? Maybe, but I think I'm a better person because of it. If you haven't played this game...well I won't say how I really feel, but please, please, please pick it up. Borrow, trade, buy, steal...do whatever it takes to get your hands on this masterpiece of a game, you won't regret it.
